Rewilding a Residential Landscape

Being on this property was pure, peaceful bliss. The team at Crowley Cottrell transformed a once clear-cut site by rewilding the land with meadows and native plantings that support pollinators — creating a landscape that feels both intentional and deeply connected to the surrounding forest.
Set on a 2.4-acre parcel bordered by mature white pines and surrounding woodland, the modern farmhouse is grounded within a landscape of rolling meadows, perennial gardens, terraces, stonework, and woodland edges. From above, the drone photography and aerial video reveal the relationship between the home, the designed landscape, and the natural environment beyond, a story that's nearly impossible to tell from the ground alone.
Our coverage focused on wide establishing views, aerial movement through the site, and the layered landscape design that unfolds across the property. The footage shows how the residence is sited within the meadow, how the gardens transition into the surrounding forest, and how the outdoor spaces connect as one cohesive whole.

Vibrant in Kennebunkport Village

Set within the historic village of Kennebunkport, this residential landscape design project by Ted Carter Inspired Landscapes balances privacy, structure, and softness while preserving the home’s architectural presence along the street.
Heidi Kirn Photography provided photography, video, and drone coverage for this featured landscape design project, documenting the relationship between the home, stonework, garden paths, layered plantings, and surrounding village setting. Through a combination of professional landscape photography, cinematic video, and aerial drone footage, the project is captured from both intimate garden-level perspectives and broader views that reveal the full composition of the outdoor space.
The design was shaped by views from inside the home, with a yew hedge creating a soft living boundary and a layered perennial garden offering texture, movement, and seasonal interest. Rather than feeling enclosed, the landscape creates a quiet sense of privacy while maintaining openness and visual clarity.
Our coverage focused on the details and atmosphere that make the garden feel immersive: the stone hardscape, perennial plantings, grass allée, architectural sightlines, and the way the outdoor spaces connect back to the home. Video brought movement and seasonality to the story, while drone photography and aerial video helped show how the landscape design fits within the larger property and village context.
