Photographing a Mediterranean Revival Home in Tampa with Social Swan Decor

One of my favorite parts of working as an interior design photographer in Tampa is collaborating with designers who have a strong point of view and a clear vision for the spaces they create.
Recently I had the opportunity to photograph a beautiful Spanish Mediterranean–style home designed by Audra Samnotra of Social Swan Decor in Tampa’s Virginia Park neighborhood. The project was later featured in Tampa Bay Magazine, and it was such a joy to capture.
The homeowners were initially drawn to the home’s architectural bones: arched openings, terracotta tones, and bright sunlit interiors but the space lacked cohesion and personality. Audra thoughtfully transformed the interiors while honoring the original architecture.
THE DESIGN APPROACH
Throughout the five-bedroom home, Audra layered warm, earthy tones with blues, terracotta, and natural textures. Bouclé fabrics, rustic woods, ceramic planters, and vintage-inspired rugs add depth while maintaining the Mediterranean spirit of the home.
Collected objects and meaningful pieces—including a live-edge dining table and bold contemporary artwork—create a home that feels both personal and timeless.
From a photography perspective, the project offered beautiful moments to capture: soft natural light, architectural symmetry, layered textures, and thoughtful styling throughout the home.
THE ENTRYWAY
One of the most charming areas of the home is the entryway beneath the staircase. Custom storage lockers support the homeowners’ no-shoe policy while creating a welcoming drop zone for the family.
A gallery wall highlights personal photographs and mementos from the homeowners’ time living in Texas, adding personality and warmth the moment you walk through the door.
THE LIVING ROOM
The living room is the heart of the home.
Audra preserved the romantic architecture—arched openings and artisan finishes—while introducing scaled lighting and layered textures that bring warmth to the space. A Loloi rug, Regina Andrew chandelier, and Currey & Company lamp help create a balanced mix of classic and contemporary design.
THE DINING ROOM
The dining room centers around a live-edge wood table that the homeowners spent years searching for. Suspended above it is a dramatic Currey & Company chandelier, while a Jaipur Living rug grounds the space.
A striking mixed-media artwork by a Berlin-based artist anchors the room and adds vibrant color to the otherwise neutral palette.
THE KITCHEN
While the kitchen’s cabinetry and architecture remained untouched, thoughtful styling adds warmth and character. Vintage objects—including copper cookware, wooden cutting boards, and fresh florals—help soften the space and tie it visually to the rest of the home.
THE PLAYROOM
Even the playroom reflects the thoughtful design approach seen throughout the house.
Clare V.’s “Pop Dots” wallpaper in marigold brings playful energy to the space, while scalloped West Elm curtains and a colorful Ruggable rug echo the room’s whimsical shapes.
Functional storage solutions ensure the space works beautifully for a busy family.
A COLLABORATIVE PROJECT
Photographing this project was such a rewarding collaboration with Audra and her team. Her ability to balance Old World architectural details with fresh, modern layers resulted in a home that feels warm, elevated, and deeply personal.
Seeing the project published in Tampa Bay Magazine made the experience even more special.
